Real Encounters. Real Wildlife. Real Stories
5 Nights / 6 Days ( 5N Dudhwa )
Includes 8 guided safaris
Bengal Tigers, Indian Rhinos, Barasingha, Gharials & Gangetic River Dolphins
The Terai is entirely different from the wildlife destinations in Central India or Rajasthan. And we have designed this itinerary specifically for an offbeat Safari experience unlike others. The tall-grass and sal-forest belt running along the Indo-Nepal border holds things you won’t find on a standard tiger safari tour. Embarking on our Terai Wildlife Safari Tour will make you witness reintroduced one-horned rhinos grazing in Dudhwa’s Rhino Rehabilitation Enclosure, majestic Bengal Tigers, barasingha herds and gharials and Gangetic river dolphins from a boat in Katarniaghat.
Over six days you’ll move through multiple protected areas including Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary, Dudhwa National Park and Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary. You will be embarking on 8 safaris in total, each one led by naturalists who know this landscape’s every route, story and secrets. These wildlife destinations are comparatively less visited than the national parks of Central India, offering a quieter and more intimate safari experience. With fewer vehicles and crowds, game drives can feel more peaceful and personal, allowing you to connect with the wilderness at your own pace. And for many of our guests, this is what makes this tour worth the long drive.
A core zone of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve on the banks of the Sharda River, Kishanpur is where the barasingha gather in numbers, especially around Jhadi Tal. Embark on two safaris here, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, to move through dense riparian forest and wetland-fringed tals, watching for tigers, leopards and India’s largest deer.
Four safaris across Dudhwa’s core sal forests and tall grasslands, including a dedicated visit to the Rhino Rehabilitation Enclosure, home to one-horned rhinos that were reintroduced from Kaziranga since 1984 and later from Nepal. Also experience a morning game drive in the productive Sathiana Range.
Our Terai Wildlife Safari tour includes an evening excursion into Katarniaghat’s sal forest and riverine belt on the Girwa River. A boat ride on the Girwa river gives you multiple opportunities to spot gharials, marsh mugger crocodiles, rare turtles and on a good day, the Gangetic river dolphin.
