    About Bandhavgarh National Park

    Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh is one of India’s most celebrated tiger reserves. Located in the Umaria district, the park is spread across approximately 1,536 sq km, including a core area of 716 sq km. It was declared a national park in 1968 and later became one of the country’s earliest Project Tiger reserves in 1993. Today, this central India wildlife destination is renowned for its thriving tiger population, rich biodiversity and the ancient Bandhavgarh Fort that rises dramatically above the surrounding forests.

    Bandhavgarh National Park

    Bandhavgarh is divided into six tourism safari zones, comprising three core zones (Tala, Magadhi, and Khitauli) and three buffer zones (Panpatha, Dhamokhar, and Johila). This structuring helps balance human movement with wildlife conservation.

    Jeep Safaris are the best way to explore the park, offering an immersive journey through its renowned tiger habitats and diverse landscapes. Every safari requires a valid Forest Department permit, which is issued for a specific safari zone and time slot. The park remains open from October to June, with the core zones closed during the monsoon season (typically July to September) while buffer zones remain open ( subject to weather conditions and Forest Department regulations ). Bandhavgarh offers multiple safari experiences to choose from, each offering a unique way to discover the wilderness.

    Morning, Afternoon & Night Jeep Safaris

    Experience the jungles of Bandhavgarh at different times of the day. Morning safaris are perfect for cool weather and active wildlife and starts at dawn, while afternoon drives often provide excellent opportunities to spot tigers near water sources. Night safaris are operated only in designated buffer zones and reveal a fascinating world of nocturnal wildlife rarely seen during the day.
