Starting the Jim Corbett Dhikala Zone Safari at Dawn

I started the Dhikala jeep safari with my Wife and an experienced Jim Corbett Safari Guide during dawn around 5:15 AM. We started from our Dhikala Forest Rest House from the Main Dhikala Campus region and moved towards the hilltop area, which leads to the jungles. As we started our journey, I could see the initial sunlight rays pass through the dense forests, and that was something one could rarely see in cities.

Not only that, there was silence everywhere, and at some distance, we could hear a few birds chirping. A light sound that’s soothing to the ears, and the silence everywhere made it a mesmerizing experience. I have travelled to Jim Corbett National Park many times before, but never experienced something like this ever.

Jim Corbett Dhikala Zone: A Great Birdwatching Spot

Corbett Tiger Reserve is a great birdwatching destination in India. As the sun came further up, the chirping of the birds became prominent. We could even see many birds flying over the trees and mountains at far distances. It was a bit cloudy too, and the sunlight took its time to shine. We came across a hilltop after a couple of minutes, say around 6 AM. The view from this point was something that I had never seen before.

The serenity everywhere, peaceful silence, birds chirping, and light rays of the sun piercing the clouds created a sight that I still remember to date. We all sat there for a good ONE HOUR until the sun had fully come up and it was completely bright everywhere.

It was truly a unique Jim Corbett Dhikala Zone Safari experience, which I never had before. One might think that this silence is empty and fearful. But, it’s the opposite. The silence positively speaks to you once you sit at a place and try to not think about anything. Just try to be in the moment, and you will feel the calmness like never before. On my front side, I could see the large mountains. The only thought I could think of was how these majestic objects create such a beautiful and mesmerizing view that one could hardly forget.

Tusker Spotted During Jim Corbett Dhikala Safari

We then resumed our Dhikala Jeep Safari into the Jungles of the Jim Corbett National Park. As we started to move further and entered the deep forests through a narrow pathway, to our surprise, we saw a young male elephant at a distance. Furthermore, the forests were calm and peaceful. The elephant (Male Tusker) was crossing the road at some distance ahead of our jeep. We could see grace in his presence, and his appearance was majestic. He was walking slowly, and each of his steps seemed to be carefully taken.

Overall, the male tusker seemed lost and was looking to reunite with his group of other elephants. He kept roaming in the same area for a while. Later, he spotted our jeep, which was at a far distance, and it seemed like he started moving in our direction, maybe not to charge on us, but to explore for his group of elephants in our direction. But, thankfully, we had a very experienced Jim Corbett Dhikala Safari guide with us who knew all the major tactics to handle any unforeseen situations. However, nothing like that happened. After a few minutes, he started to walk away and disappeared into the wild. Surprisingly, I witnessed all these in a couple of minutes, and for me, it was a surreal experience.

Dhikala Zone is a Perfect Biodiversity Hotspot

The Dhikala Zone of the Jim Corbett National Park is a perfect curation of natural biodiversity, which needs great care through consistent implementation of conservation efforts. As I was watching the elephant from a distance, trying to find his way to his group, I realized that nature and the wild jungles work in perfect harmony to provide the best home for these wild animals.

These jungles and forests are their natural habitat, just like the cities are for us humans. So, it’s the need of the hour to take the necessary steps to maintain their safety so that these wild animals can breathe and live a life of freedom and happiness.
