Uttarakhand Boy Escapes Tiger Attack: Lessons to Learn

  • Always stay calm in life-threatening situations like this when you are on a wildlife trip. Always maintain your calm and composure and think quickly about how you can be defensive rather than panicking. Be mindful of your actions and try to deceive the wild animal and escape even if you get the smallest chance.
  • Be a Risk Taker. Always think unconventionally when you get trapped in these kinds of situations no matter how risky that seems. You are fighting for your life. You should do everything in your capability to escape from that situation with minimal damage and harm to yourself. Learn Survival tactics specifically about the wild environment. Think of creative solutions to not allow building pressure on your mind. Stay calm and think resourcefully.
  • There have to be improved mechanisms in place to tackle the overlap between wild animals and human settlement in areas like Uttarakhand which is prone to tiger spotting frequently. The local authorities need to implement physical boundaries in place that provide a safer navigation path for the people living around these areas. Also, there has to be relevant technology equipment installed near these areas which will alert the local authorities about the incoming of any unwanted wild animal in the vicinity.

Additional Lessons from this Incident

  • Set up of Advanced medical care in the region of Uttarakhand. In the case of Ankit, we saw that he had to move to Gurugram for advanced treatment. Specialized medical facilities and setups must be created in the tiger-prone areas of Uttarakhand. This will allow anyone caught in this type of unfortunate incident to recover fast through adequate and advanced medical treatment on time.
  • Last but not least, educating children in the areas prone to tiger attacks in the State of Uttarakhand on the essential wildlife tactics and methodologies that they should adhere to while navigating in the risky areas of Uttarakhand for any reason. Enroll them in an awareness program that teaches wildlife behaviour, prevention tactics, safe routes for navigation, and how to maintain strength and determination in case of any unfortunate incident of a wild animal attack.
