Tiger Attack in Garjiya Nainital Injures Bike Rider on NH309

This incident of Tiger Attack in Garjiya Nainital occurred on 17th July 2024 when a bike rider was attacked by a tiger on National Highway 309 in Ramnagar before the Garjiya Police Post. The tiger came out of the forest out of nowhere and pounced on the bike rider. The tiger injured the individual before vanishing into the jungles and towards the Kosi River area. Locals took the injured individual to the Ramnagar hospital where the doctors discharged him after adequate treatment. The person’s name was Harish Ram, 53 years of age, and a resident of Sunderkhal. He was on his way to home from the Dhikuli region.

This incident of Tiger Attack in Garjiya Nainital took place at around 8:30 PM on Tuesday just 500 metres before the Garjia Police Station. The tiger was on his way to the Kosi River. But the individual and his bike interrupted his way which led to the tiger attacking the individual. Immediately after the attack, the person fell on the road, and the tiger went away towards the river. 

Following this incident, the forest department has increased surveillance and patrolling in that area and every tiger movement was being tracked and monitored.

They need to be taught about how better wildlife habitat management should be done so that wild animals like tigers do not come in close contact with humans. This will eventually reduce such tiger attack incidents in the region.
